It's not perfect but still another step in advance I think

Hello,

This blog experienced several delays in recent time. I hope you can forgive me it.
Reason behind it was that I was preparing heavily to a new job (1) and migrating all this online activity to another host.

As I wrote in title. It's not perfect now but I think still it's another step in my online activities.

First of all I'd like to introduce some first draft of my personal signature site at URL = http://dbiesiada.com

Secondly I'd lik to migrate this blog alike to http://blogs.msdn.com and you can find it by the name of "Only human | Devoted to technology v2.0"

I hope you'll visit there at least once just to update your RSS feeds.
I'd like to encourage you to comment there heavily and if not then at least rate each post to let me know if I go in good direction.

I'll not split my online activities into two tracks. First non-censored spontanous blog at msdn and my own dot com with carefully picked up articles with nice value (taken from blog) and other articles, tech-tutorials and presentations I can publish publicitly.

I hope you can enjoy it.

Thanks for all these about 3000 clicks. Take care.

Visual Studio Team System - training VPC

Sorry for delay in posting. Preparing for a new role and starting up a new hosting project for my online activities is taking so much time that I have to review my current time management approach again :)

Anyway I just found that since today you can download a nice VPC image with Visual Studio Team System installation + training scripts from the very beginning to... see yourself:

If you haven't yet decided if VSS is enough and what SCM tool you really need simply TRY!

ZIP support for .Net

Hello,

Some time ago I complained that .NET 3.0 ZipArchive class implementation is just so imperfect that it cannot be used with regular zip files.
That's true. It's designed to support zip based document files like XPS or Office documents. It has to cover special structure inside.
With that understanding it can be even usable but if you're looking for real 100% zip file compression support for .NET you can go there:

and check the component. It's free for non-commercial use so you can evaluate it freely :)

Sun supports linux - another direct hit on Redhat business?

Wow, I just read that Sun's going to support Linux installations on similar way as Oracle declared himself on Red Hat distributions...

I see that the pie is smaller and smaller for Redhat and maybe it's a good moment to start looking for new business fundamentals than support only.

Interesting, that Redhat doesn't recognize it as competitive.

Evil Evil Evil games *g* :) of course joking

Reading previous article I made a follow up to some references like:

funny I grew up also with pen&paper role-playing games. I think this hobby has been one of major influences of present me.
Nevertheless I'd never agree to an psychodelic influence of rpgs as the only one indicator that matters.

Security side of Apple

I just checked Polish website of Computerworld. I found there an info about security patch for Mac OS 10.3.9. Coverage of 36 security holes include also leaks in graphical files processing.

It reminds me the beginning of previous year where MS published KB hotfixes for jpg proccessing. Funny.. so it's not only Microsoft who was vulnerable for this technique.

Word 2007 for bloggers

Anyway.. I just wanted to say that last two posts have been sent from Word 2007.
Cool tool if you want to automate your posting, do some activities offline and then make complex publication.

See it yourself on below picture.

Web 2.0 comments

I just read one interesting article in local (Polish) Computerworld (Issue 5/751) about Web 2.0.
I figured out two conclusions after the lecture. First is that there is the same mistake going to be made as with the WWW bubble in late 90ties and early 2000's.
Ideas without market reason to show up. No ideas how to make it commercially successful, investing without any planning and so on.

My own comment on that is: it might be true. If so learning from mistakes a person who is smart enough should observe dynamically how and when to earn on the stock of most dynamic Web 2.0 companies and know when to quit before their stocks starts to fall down J

Second thing I noticed is that this time Web 2.0 might be too big for small players and big companies like Google, Microsoft and other which might have interest in Web 2.0 can find funds and strength to be successful.

My own comment on that is: I believe that from the lessons of current Web and potential of the next gen both groups can benefit easily. I believe that it's just a signal of interesting times we live all the time J

I mean, history shows up that Netscape almost doesn't exist in current technological world. Position I believe Netscape should have actually holds Google. Microsoft is used to fight with dangers to its market all times. You name the company and year where some initiatives were strategic. Small companies every year show up their sharp teeth. Honestly Google started to be a big player from a garage company in recent times. It's a proof to me that small companies can all the time be global players – good idea and time for that is only critical.

In that article I read about two ideas which I personally really like. First comes from Buzz Logic company which wants to make a blog tracking system which will help to manage real influence between bloggers and their influence on the market through their readers (per category, vertical, area and whatever distinction you want).

As more and more market data is not only interesting but critical to my own activities and more and more companies also benefit from various BI and BI alike solutions I suppose as an idea it might be really cool to see what value it might bring.

Second solution from the article is about hardware. Concept I suppose old as old are cyberpunk movies and novels – electronic paper. Some plastic alike soft surface with electronic stuff on it (like browser) and your favorite newspaper let's say in water-proof e-paper which you could read in your bathtub also J

Home of the future is closer and closer to us, prepare your wallets J

Adobe Acrobat killing software

Wow.. I just found a freebie software with a functionality similar to full Adobe Acrobat (pdf export and virtual printer to save print into a pdf document).

If you like PDFs and you just suffer of nice software to generate it (beside for example Office 2007 plug-in which saves documents directly into PDF or XPS also) you can go there: http://www.primopdf.com/ and check it yourself
